Fran’s paintings have been exhibited nationally including at Utah’s Woodbury Museum of Art, the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art in California, The University of Arizona, Hofstra University, New York, and a recent solo show at Yavapai College, Arizona. Her work is found in private collections worldwide. Born in Queens, New York, graduated from the School of Visual Arts, with a BFA, and continued studies in graphics and web design at New York University, and Fashion Institute of Technology.

Her work was getting larger while her 600 square foot apartment was getting smaller. So, a few years ago she decided, with her husband to move from N.Y.C. to Arizona. The advantage, she finally was able to expand and flourish, both as an artist, and as outdoor enthusiast. Hiking right from her studio door, to experience some of the most remote wilderness; she observes and seeks to understand her surroundings.

She then returns to her studio with a head full of boundless information. Through carefully chosen mediums and materials, concepts merge to form a narrative. Intentional markings, shapes and contours are taken from her memory of urban life, recent observation in the wild, and extensive research.

Creating continues to be an intuitive process for Fran, spending long days in the studio allowing herself to step into the lush surfaces she creates. Fran’s compositions evolve into conceptual assertions of nature that undergo an enduring metamorphosis. Her aim is to pursue and engage the imagination conveying an ardent connection to atmospheres and places. Resulting in work that is connected through a conceptual and aesthetic thread.
